White, Beaver Creek still in lead

Thursday night, Vail’s Kerry White extended her lead in the women’s solo division of the Race Across America.

White, a type I diabetic, held a 3 hour, 41 minute lead Thursday on her way to La Veta. After a three-hour sleep Wednesday night, White raced ahead Thursday, moving ahead of the racers in second and third.

The four-man Beaver Creek – Team Catlin squad built up a nearly one-hour lead Thursday with about two-thirds of the coast-to-coast race left, and was the only team to make it to the 22nd timing station in Springfield late Thursday night.
