Why are so many NFL receivers perfect divas?

From the same proud, wide receiver position that once deposited the phrase “Just Give Me the Darn Ball,” or something like that into the American sports lexicon, here comes Brandon Marshall.

He is the Broncos’ controversial star who has recently followed such receivers as Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, Plaxico Burress, Anquan Boldin and Donald Driver in demanding “Just Pay Me, Myself and I the Darn Money.”

No other NFL position, it seems, has a greater percentage of prima donnas than receiver.

“We were just talking about this subject the other day in the locker room,” said Broncos quarterback Chris Simms.

See, for all the glorification of the modern athlete, conversations in NFL locker rooms are no different than what is discussed around the company coffee machines or on sports-talk radio stations.

Simms, who has been around the NFL his entire life, was chatting with teammate Kenny McKinley, a rookie receiver who is in his first days in the league.
