Flat Tops Backpacking
Students will travel through montane and sub-alpine forests, through flower-filled, high-alpine meadows and over rocky ridgelines, traveling between 3 and 8 miles per day carrying all necessary camping gear and food. Students will learn backcountry cooking, travel and camping skills and learn about the local wildlife and ecology, as well as focus on outdoor leadership skills while camping at a variety of backcountry sites. Depending on the group and weather, youth may have an opportunity to try a peak ascent on one of the peaks in the area.
