Mountain Social: Beaver Creek Oktoberfest
Annual Labor Day event at Beaver Creek brings out the crowds

Chris Dillmann/Vail Daily
Beaver Creek hosted its annual Oktoberfest celebration Friday through Sunday with plenty of oompah music, pretzels and Bavarian-style fun. Plenty of people looked the part by wearing lederhosen and dirndls and danced to authentic music by local groups The Helmut Fricker Band, Grown Men in Lederhosen as well as Trachtenkapelle, a band from Beaver Creek’s sister resort, Lech-Zürs, Austria. Beaver Creek has shared a sisterhood for 25 years and the band enjoys returning each year. In addition to the traditional bands, there were fun tribute bands playing the music of ELO, Tina Turner, Pat Benatar and more. Costume contests, beer stein hoisting, pretzel tossing competitions and more filled the afternoons. If you missed this weekend, there are two more Oktoberfest celebrations. Next weekend it will be held in Lionshead and in Vail the following weekend.
