Margaret (Kit, Peg, Peggy) Thompson was a radiant force of love, kindness, and joy. Surrounded by the love of her family, she was deeply cherished by her brother, Bill, her sisters, Kathy and Patty, and her many nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was found in the life she built with her beloved husband, Wade White, and in the love she poured into her children, Dawn and Cliff. Above all, her grandsons—Andrew, Wade, and Walter—were the absolute lights of her life, bringing her endless pride and happiness.
A true pioneer in the senior living industry, Peggy didn’t just create communities—she built homes filled with warmth, dignity, and care. Alongside Wade, she founded Thompson White & Associates in 1983, sharing their vision of compassionate care across the country. Later, they poured their hearts into building Cottages where residents weren’t just supported—they were truly valued and loved alongside their cottage family of passionate and committed team members.
But Peggy’s kindness and connection extended far beyond her family and career. She cultivated friendships that lasted a lifetime, from her beloved Innsbruck buddies to being everyone’s race mom at the track to so many others who were lucky enough to be part of her journey. These friendships, filled with adventure and laughter, were a testament to the way she made people feel seen, heard, and cherished.
In retirement, Peggy continued to bring people together, becoming the glue of the Tuesday breakfast club in Vail and earning her well-deserved title as the best breakfast chef on the mountain. As a mountain host, she had both the passion and the patience to help countless struggling skiers find their way down, always offering encouragement and a warm smile. Whether she was perfecting her homemade salad dressings, pit-crewing for Wade and Cliff’s race teams, or sharing the wonders of the world with her grandsons, Peggy did it all with enthusiasm, love, and an undeniable sparkle.
She and Wade shared a love that was as deep as it was joyful. They were two halves of a whole, celebrating life together through adventure—scuba diving, traveling, skiing, and filling their days with laughter.
Peggy is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Wade; her brother, Bill (Sue); her sister, Patty (Rich); her daughter, Dawn (David); her son, Cliff (Lindsey); and her adored grandsons, Andrew, Wade, and Walter.
Her love, warmth, and adventurous spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know her whether they met her one time or their friendship lasted a lifetime.
