September 16, 1967 – July 9, 2025
Marty roared into life on September 16, 1967.

In many ways, he was a lesson in contrasts. He loved the ocean but was homesick for the mountains. Marty loved Disney movies and horror flicks, children’s books and Stephen King. He quoted Maya Angelou and Elmer Fudd. He was a great cook and excellent baker but not really a foodie.

He wasn’t religious but he was spiritual. He would send texts and photos while on his nightly walks with his dog – images of the sun setting over Lake Hartwell, a pretty flower or tree. He always knew the phase of the moon. The crescent moon was his favorite because it signified hope and a path forward. He loved it when he saw the first fireflies of the summer.

His only bumper sticker said Wag more. Bark less. His favorite breed of dog was rescue. He was gay and deeply committed to equal rights for all humans.

Marty grew up in Eagle County and graduated from EVHS. He received his BFA from CSU and worked for Clemson University as a graphic designer.

He was predeceased by his parents Don and Linda Beagley, his sister Reva Kuhr and brother-in-law Danny Higgins. He is survived by siblings Roxy (Joe Kolis), Mark (Patty) and Rhonda Higgins and nieces and nephews Michael Miller, Michelle Winstead, Kyle Higgins, Bradie Beagley-Reiner, Hattie Wagy, Britni Beagley and Steil Beagley.

For those who wish to honor his memory, please support your local animal shelter or the Human Rights Council.
