Vail Christian in the running for cash, concert

Special to the Daily |
EDWARDS — Vail Christian High School is shooting for a share in millions of dollars, and maybe a private concert by Grammy nominated The Band Perry.
VCHS is the only high school in the county participating in Celebrate My Drive, designed to reduce car crashes, the No. 1 killer of teens. A teen’s first year on the road is the most dangerous, according to data from State Farm Insurance.
The top 100 high schools across the United States that generates the most safe-driving commitments through Friday, will win grant money to benefit their schools. Two schools will win $100,000 plus a private concert by The Band Perry concert. Eight schools will win $100,000 and 90 schools will take home $25,000.
State Farm insurance is sponsoring Celebrate My Drive, and local agent Cathy Thompson said the program is a way to reinforce good driving habits.
