Vail, CO Colorado

EAGLE ” A Beaver Creek man has announced he will run for a state senate seat that represents Eagle County.
Republican Muhammad Ali Hasan filed his paperwork with the Secretary of State last week for the Nov. 2008 election, he said.
But Hasan will meet with local party members before he makes his final decision, he said.
“I want to make sure they’re open-minded about my idea of running,” said Hasan, adding that he was not looking for their endorsement.
Hasan’s activist work with the Eagle County School District on its Teacher Advancement Program and his opposition to home rule have motivated him to run, he said.

Hasan would like to improve education in public schools without spending taxpayer dollars, increase Colorado’s severance tax and help the Republican Party to interact more closely with residents by holding town hall meetings.
Hasan thinks Eagle County should have a legislator who lives in Eagle County.
“We haven’t had a legislator from Eagle County in a very long time in either the House or Senate,” he said.
The 27-year-old Hasan owns Ravia, a film production company, and Sangre De Cristo Capital, a land development company. He owns a home in Beaver Creek.
