Controlled burns planned for Vail Valley
VAIL, Colorado ” Controlled burns will be set in Colorado’s Vail Valley beginning Monday in East Vail and continue through the week.
The U.S. Forest Service will start burning dead trees and brush in East Vail and move west during the week, dependent on weather. Burning will only occur when there is enough snow cover to minimize the risk for fire to get out of control.-
Smoke and flames may be visible from various points along Interstate 70 and some smoke may settle into lower elevations in the evening hours.
“We don’t expect a lot of impact to the surrounding areas,” said East Zone Fire Management Officer Ross Wilmore. “Smoke should be minimal. If conditions are not right, the burns will be postponed.”
If you have health problems that may be aggravated by smoke production, please contact Wilmore at 970-328-5867, and you will be personally notified prior to any burning activities.
