DENVER, Colorado “-Multiple arrests were made this morning following a three-year investigation into a violent gang operating in metro Denver, Colorado.

Details are sketchy but federal officials say they targeted MS-13 gang members, their associates and their sources of illegal drug supply.

MS-13 gang members are mostly Salvadoran nationals and first generation Salvadoran-Americans who use violence, from assaults to homicides, to intimidate rival gangs, law enforcement and the public, according to an FBI national threat assessment.

The gang has an estimated 6,000 to 10,000 members in at least 42 states and the District of Columbia. Their threat is highest in the western and northeastern parts of the country, according to the FBI.
