VAIL ” Helicopters will continue removing timber from West Vail until Sunday.
The trees, killed or infested by pine beetles, were removed from the forest to reduce the risk of a severe wildfire because they burn more easily.
As of Monday, about 2,000 trees had been flown to Vermont Court to be hauled away and recycled into wood pellets.
Crews will continue to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, to haul away the remaining 5,000 logs.
