Maxine’s roomed designed by Slifer Designs
VAIL – Slifer Designs recently completed The Maxine Miller Room, a hospice room at the Vail Valley Medical Center for the terminally ill.
The challenge for Slifer Designs was to transform a traditional hospital room into a comfortable and attractive space to serve as the area’s first official “hospice room,” said Beth Slifer, owner and President of Slifer Designs.Donna Figg, the company’s director of hospitality and her assistant, Tara Klaers, designed the hospice.
“Our design goal for Maxine’s Room was the same as our philosophy for all of our jobs,” Figg said. “Whether it is a hotel room, private residence or hospice room, our approach is to make the interior feel like a home.”
Figg and Klaers put together a team that donated goods, time and services. Most of the partners were local and include: Decor by Design, Tailored Interiors, Greg Burnett of Point West, CMT painting and the Paint Bucket, Hughes Supply, Thul Electronics, Discount Cabinet and Appliances, Animal Cracker, and John Brooks and Kneedler Fauchere Showrooms.
