BEAVER CREEK ” Neil Diamond tribute band Super Diamond will rock Beaver Creek as part of the resort’s ninth annual Oktoberfest celebration Sept. 2-3. Bavarian cuisine, beer, costume and Alpenhorn contests, kids activities and live oompah music from Lech Zurs, Austria, will entertain guests. Admission to the outdoor celebration is free, with food and beverages available for purchase.

Food booths and a beer garden on Beaver Creek Plaza are open from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. both days. Indulge with Bavarian cuisine prepared by local restaurants including Beaver Creek Chophouse, Grouse Mountain Grill, Alpenrose, Blue Moose Pizza and more.

Complimentary kids’ activities from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 2-3 include an interactive children’s theater and kids’ stage, indoor children’s museum and outdoor Kids’ Fun Zone featuring an alpenhorn contest for kids at 3 p.m.

The Bavarian Costume Contest on the plaza stage at 4 p.m. Sept. 2-3 offers divisions for men, women, boys and girls. Contestants will be judged on authenticity and completeness of costume (hat, shoes, socks, etc.). Winners will be announced at the Beer Garden at about 4:20 p.m.

Bon Appetit culinary demonstrations at the state-of-the-art demo kitchen located on Beaver Creek Plaza take place throughout the two-day festival from noon-3:30 p.m. Free tips and tastings will be provided by top chefs from Beano’s Cabin, Grouse Mountain Grill, Splendido, Golden Eagle, Provisions Catering and Blue Moose Pizza.

Those looking to earn their brats and beer can participate in the six-hour Vertical Ascent, a team or individual trail-running race on Beaver Creek Mountain Sept. 2. Participants will run or hike up the Overlook trail then ride the chairlift down to the village, completing as many laps as possible within six hours. Festivalgoers can also watch the world’s top mountain bikers navigate a series of banked turns, tabletops, step-down jumps and rollers during the World Professional Mountain Biking Championships at Beaver Creek on Sept. 3. The Jeep King of the Mountain Series’ Y-shaped, daredevil race course will showcase the talents of 16 of the world’s elite male and female athletes in mountain bike racing.
