Celebrating a Life of Love and Strength
Genevieve McNeill, a beloved daughter, sister and friend, passed away on October 17th, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 28. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, and the far-reaching circle of friends and extended family that she leaves behind.
Born in Vail, Colorado, Genevieve grew up surrounded by family and community, instilling in her a deep sense of compassion and resilience. She attended Red Sandstone Elementary and Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy. She was one of the first competitive women snowboard competitors that attended the Academy.
Genevieve loved the outdoors, including skiing and snowboarding, hiking, and just generally being outside. She also had a passion for cooking and creating fun, healthy food. Traveling was another one of her passions. She traveled to South America, India, Nepal and many countries in Europe. About 6 years ago, she moved to Atlanta and was attending Georgia State University. She was studying psychology and was only a few weeks away from getting her bachelor’s degree.
Genevieve is survived by Daniel McNeill (father), Kathie McNeill (mother), Kathryn McNeill (sister), Tyler McNeill (brother), Sara Thurston McNeill (stepmother), Rob Sinclair (stepfather), Ben Thurston (step-brother) and Sam Thurston (step-brother).
A memorial service will be held on December 13th at The Vail Church in Eagle-Vail at 2pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Genevieve’s remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Speak Up Reach Out (https://www.speakupreachout.org/) in her memory.
Genevieve McNeill will be remembered for her enduring love, her fierce independence, her boundless energy and passion, and the kindness she showed to all. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. We miss her deeply and want to celebrate her life with anyone who knew her.
