Peacock attacks 3-year-old boy at Denver Zoo
DENVER, Colorado – A peacock at the Denver Zoo is under observation after it injured a 3-year-old boy having lunch with other day care students.
James Hartley says he got a call from the day care Wednesday saying his son had been attacked by a peacock and was being taken to the hospital. Part of his nose was cut and he had scratches across his forehead. He received 10 stitches at the hospital.
The zoo confirmed the boy was injured by one of 10 peacocks that roam the grounds. Zoo officials will determine if the peacocks shouldn’t be allowed to wander freely any more or if the attack was an isolated incident.
Hartley says witnesses told him the peacock seemed to be interested in cheese his son had.
