EAGLE-VAIL — The Vail Performing Arts Academy will sing you around the world in this weekend’s show.

The “Around the World Revue” runs Saturday and Sunday and is aptly named, said Annah Scully, of the VPPA.

“It’s a United Nations of song, dance and theatrical performances,” Scully said. “It’s a revue of music from around the world.”

Every song is from a different country and run the gamut from “Edith Piaf,” “Evita” and “On the Town” to “The Lion King,” “Mulan” and “Joseph and his Technicolor Dream Coat.” They even do The Beatles, “Back In The USSR.”

The Rumpelstiltskin preschoolers are performing “It’s a Small World.”

For the uninitiated, a revue is a variety, bits and pieces of wonderfulness.

“Every number is different and every number is a surprise. It’ll be lively,” Scully said.

The Around the World Revue features 60 local kids, ages 8 to 18.

“With everything the kids have going on in the spring, it’s incredible that they were able to pull this together,” Scully said. “But they did, and they did a great job.”

It’s a family

The Vail Performing Arts Academy has been around for more than a decade and a half. Scully founded it in 1996.

It’s for kids between the ages of 8 and 18, and more than 2,500 kids have participated in the past 15 years.

It’s all about the kids learning to work together, Scully says.

“There is nothing like watching a student discover that ‘I-can-do-this’ feeling,” Scully said.

The Vail Performing Arts Academy does a different type of show every time it hits the stage.

Summer Registration

It’s time to sign up for VPAA’s summer program, Scully said.

They’ll be doing two musicals, “Mulan Junior” for the younger kids, and “Rent” for the older ones. Registration is available at
