Susie Davis joins Bright Future Foundation
VAIL — Susie Davis has joined Bright Future Foundation as the youth violence prevention director. Davis, who most recently served as the executive director of the Youth Foundation in the Eagle River Valley, brings more than 20 years of experience in organizational leadership and a passion for working with youth in the community.
“I am so happy to be part of Bright Future Foundation,” Davis said. “I will be engaging with youth in prevention services, including a program for middle school boys called EmpowerMENt, which is a school curriculum focused on a bystander approach to violence prevention.”
The EmpowerMENt program is designed to raise awareness among young men of issues that traditionally have been considered women’s issues and encourage young men not merely to be passive bystanders, but to play an active leadership role in reducing gender violence, harassment, abuse and bullying. Focused on middle-school aged boys, this program utilizes a variety of educational programming as well as mentorship to empower participants.
“In building relationships with youth in our community over many years, I have experienced their strengths and resiliency. I have seen their commitment and desire to create a better world,” Davis said. “Through inspiration and action of fellow students, we will be fostering healthy relationships at Bright Future Foundation and encouraging students to be leaders, taking action in promoting a positive school climate.”
Davis has lived in the Vail Valley for more than 30 years and has worked in several local organizations including the Business Education Partnership, which has evolved into the Education Foundation of Eagle County, and the Youth Foundation.
