Vail Pass bike path, I-70 lanes to close

EAGLE COUNTY – A two-mile segment of the Vail Pass Bike Path will be closed to bike and pedestrian traffic Monday for sediment removal operations. The trail closure will be on the west side of the pass between mile 185 (about five miles east of the East Vail exit) and 187 (about three miles west of the Vail Pass exit) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Bicyclists are discouraged from traveling through the area during closure hours since there is no detour. However, if cyclists arrive at the closure points, they will be required to dismount and wait to be escorted through the work zone by project personnel. On Tuesday, flaggers will alternate bike and pedestrian traffic between mile 187 and mile 190 (Vail Pass Rest Area) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.Lane closures also will be in place on Interstate 70 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., as follows: • Monday: eastbound, right lane closed from mile 185 to 190;• Tuesday: eastbound, shoulder closed from mile 187 to 190; and• Wednesday through Friday: eastbound and westbound, left lane and left shoulder closed between mile 201 and 202 near Frisco.Officials urge caution when observing the goats.For more information call Lisa Taylor at Summit County Weed Program, call 970- 668-4218 or visit the Weed Program Web site at http://www.co.summit.co.us.
