A talented group of over 50 youth performers has been working hard since January to get ready for “Raise Your Voice Revue,” the Vail Performing Arts Academy’s annual spring performance.
“This year, the Vail Performing Arts Academy is introducing a brand-new concept that merges acting monologues with both acoustic and track-backed musical performances. The innovative format is designed to encourage the academy’s aspiring young musicians, singers, actors and dancers to explore their talents in a dynamic and engaging way, said Annah Scully, founder and executive producer of the Vail Performing Arts Academy.
The show is packed with hits like “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, “I Ain’t Worried” by One Republic, and of course, Taylor Swift is in the lineup with “You Belong to Me.” Weaved between the songs, students cover topics in their poems and monologues entitled “Victory” and “Influence” to “I Don’t Like Chocolate” and “Gum in my Hair.”
Whatever the content, these 8- to 17-year-olds are becoming emboldened to get up in front of an audience and raise their voice. Each student will have the opportunity to combine storytelling with music, bringing characters to life through spoken word, song and dance.
“This format allows young performers to build confidence, develop stage presence and discover the depth of storytelling through music and monologue,” Scully said. “We always do a revue in spring and fall and a full musical in the summer. We love being able to expose the students to a variety of genres in our production numbers and a revue is a great way to do that.”

The audience can expect a high-energy show Saturday and Sunday at Battle Mountain High School at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 if you pay by cash or check at the door and $18 for credit card purchases that can be ordered at VPAA.org.
“This event is a must-see for anyone who appreciates live performance and young talent in action,” Scully said. “Family, friends and community members are invited to experience an evening filled with passion, creativity and inspiring performances by the next generation of performers.”
