1 killed in Clear Creek Canyon crash

GOLDEN, Colorado ” At least one person is dead after a sport utility vehicle went off U.S. Highway 6 and overturned in Clear Creek Canyon.

The Colorado State Patrol and the Golden Fire Department responded to the scene west of Golden.

U.S. 6 was closed in both directions near mile marker 267 after the crash that apparently occurred sometime Tuesday morning.



The SUV appeared to have been traveling up into the mountains when it careened off the road and landed on its top in the water.

The crash occurred along a section of the highway west of Denver where no guardrails are in place.
