EAGLE — After 18 years at the site, Alpine Ambiance will be closing down its Eagle operation at month’s end.

The popular home accents, gift items and apparel store will be consolidating its retail operations to its location at The Riverwalk at Edwards. Additionally, the store will continue its Shady Deals window coverings services.

“It’s just really gotten to the point of simplifying the business,” said Alpine Ambiance owner Jan Rosenthal Townsend. “We want to concentrate on better customer service and I can’t be everywhere at once.”

While the decision to shutter the Eagle store is the right choice for her business, Townsend said it marks a bittersweet moment.

A home and business

“Jay and I have appreciated being a part of the community on Broadway,” she said. “We love that little 1912 house an we love and appreciate all of our awesome customers over the years.”

The Townsends purchased the former residence located south of the Eagle Pharmacy back in 1999. The couple had recently moved to the Eagle area and they were looking for storage space for their Edwards store, which opened in 1995. They spotted the Eagle location the very day the for sale sign went up and purchased the building shortly thereafter. Ultimately, they decided to open a second retail storefront at the house, instead of using it as storage space.

While they sold the property earlier this year in preparation for the consolidation, the Townsends stressed they always enjoyed having a downtown Eagle business. Townsend said she will continue operating her window coverings business in town and will continue her active involvement in the Eagle Chamber.

Need a good deal?

As part of the consolidation, Townsend will offer customer appreciation cards for her Eagle and Gypsum patrons. The loyalty cards will offer customers a 10 percent off discount “for life.”

“We don’t want to lose our loyal customers and we are just 15 minutes up the road in Edwards,” said Townsend.

Before the store closes, Alpine Ambiance in Eagle will be running a relocation sale. Large furniture pieces and fixtures that won’t fit at the Edwards location are marked at half off. Apparel, jewelry, home accents, art and gift items are 30 percent off. Select items are up to 75 percent off.

Closing day is Saturday, Feb. 25. Until then Alpine Ambiance in Eagle can be reached at 970-328-7888. Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
