Question: Will the Arrabelle clock tower and the Glockenspiel located over Centre V be operational? The clock tower chimes sporadically and the Glockenspiel has never operated.

Answer: So it’s a bit confusing, but only the clock above Centre V, which houses the Glockenspiel bells, has a chime. The clock tower does not.

The clocks seem to chime sporadically because the bells have been having “mechanical issues,” and the two clocks also show different times, said Kristin Williams, the Eagle County spokesperson for Vail Resorts.

“Currently the bell strike is programmed to occur between the hours of 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Glockenspiel figures are part of a very complicated design and will be operational once all the mechanical issues are resolved,” she said.

Work to fix the bells and align the times of the clocks began as of Thursday morning.
