Avon aims to work with bars

AVON, Colorado ” Avon, Colorado police will hold a workshop for establishments that serve alcohol within city limits.

On Dec. 4, Officer Yvonne Ramirez will hold an hour-long seminar to promote collaboration between businesses and the town to try and reduce the number of people who drink too much.

Those who attend the workshop will receive information about a variety of ordinances, including smoking restrictions and strategies to limit underage drinking.

Avon Town Clerk Patty McKenney will be on hand to review liquor licensing, the Eagle River Fire Department will explain occupancy rules and limits; and the police department will discuss the potential of creating a database to identify habitual troublemakers.

The hope is to create an association between the town and business leaders that would convene regularly to continue discussion of key alcohol-related issues, and take measures to enhance the overall safety of Avon residents.

The workshop will be held Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. in the Council chambers of the Avon Municipal Building at 400 Benchmark Road in Avon.
