The Avon branch of the United States Postal Service was unexpectedly closed Tuesday, Nov. 14, and Wednesday, Nov. 15, after experiencing an internet failure.

In an email to the Vail Daily on Wednesday, James Boxrud, strategic communications specialist for the WestPac Area of the United States Postal Service, explained that “retail services are unavailable due to having our internet go out.”

“We are handing out packages and mail over the counter during regular business hours,” Boxrud wrote. Regular business hours for the Avon Post Office are 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“Customers needing retail transactions are being directed to the Vail Post Office located at 1300 N. Frontage Road W, Vail,” Boxrud wrote. The Vail branch’s hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“We are hopeful that our internet will be restored either later today or tomorrow,” Boxrud wrote.
