Annie Becker and Eva Isaacs of Vail Christian High School and Sigmund Johnson of Eagle Valley High School have been named National Merit semifinalists for 2026.
Each year, over 1.3 million juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT. Only about 16,000 students nationwide, representing less than 1% of seniors, earn this distinction.
As semifinalists, the students now qualify to advance to finalist status by completing a rigorous application process that highlights their academic excellence, leadership efforts, community service and accomplishments. From this group, approximately 7,000 students will go on to receive National Merit Scholarships, with awards totaling nearly $28 million from corporate, college-sponsored and National Merit Corporation-funded scholarships.
