GREELEY, Colorado ” An 18-year-old pre-theater freshman has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into and vandalizing University of Northern Colorado dormitories in Greeley on Christmas Day.

UNC spokesman Nate Haas says Nelson Ange Barry was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.

Officials say 29 dormitory rooms were broken into at the President’s Row residence hall complex that was mostly unoccupied because of the holiday. Some items were stolen and damage to the rooms was estimated at about $40,000.

Haas said officers were investigating whether others were involved. There was no working number for Barry and it wasn’t immediately clear whether he had retained an attorney.

Barry was booked into the Weld County Jail, where he was being held on $51,000 bail.
