Health fair returning to Eagle

EAGLE, Colorado ” The 28th annual 9Health Fair is coming in April.

The event includes two days of screenings at Eagle Valley Middle School in Eagle. People can get their blood drawn on April 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The larger fair is from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on, April 26.

“Each year we hear different stories, with the same message: the Health Fair made a difference in my life,” said Joy Ortiz, who organizes the fair for the sponsor, the Lions Club.



At the fair, the will be several tests available, including the blood draw, which screens for diabetes, heart problems, prostate cancer, kidney and liver problems, and other medical conditions.

Only people 18 and older can get the blood tests. Those interested should fast for 12 hours before blood is drawn unless they have diabetes. A limited number of vouchers are available for people without health insurance.

“Fifty-five percent of Eagle County residents reportedly have a chronic disease,” said Jill Hunsaker, Eagle County Public Health Manager. “Conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and elevated cholesterol are all manageable conditions if caught early, and that what these screening are designed to do.”
