After your adventures on the slopes, do some adventure shopping at LuvLux, the Vail Valley’s newest consignment store.

The name is new, but the space is familiar. For the past 15 years, this location has been a beloved consignment shop in the Riverwalk in Edwards. It started out as Rouge Boutique for ten years before it became Remix in 2020.

“I’ve been a client of the past owner for five years and when she told me that she was closing up shop, I thought this would be a great opportunity,” said Debra Vallentyne Hynes.

From jeans and dresses to ski wear, furs and designer handbags, you never know what treasures you’ll find at LuvLux. Look for brands like Chanel, St. John, Moncler, Versace, Gucci, Parajumpers, Louis Vuitton and more.

“I didn’t have the space in this store to do inexpensive secondhand clothes, and we have a wonderful thrift store across the street for that,” Hynes said. “So, I thought I could fill a void and have more upscale items at good prices.”

In the Vail Valley, there are some pretty awesome closets filled with fabulous fashions and when the urge to purge strikes, consider selling your sweaters, jeans, ski jackets, furs, handbags and more at LuvLux.

According to an article on Sept. 15, 2025, in Forbes, the secondhand apparel market is booming in the U.S. From thrift stores to luxury retail platforms, consumers across all income levels are embracing pre-owned goods. The market grew from $28 billion in 2019 to $49 billion last year and is projected to hit $74 billion by 2029.

For Hynes, this is not just a job, fashion is her passion. She was a model in the 1980s and traveled the world doing fashion shows and worked for Versace in Italy and lived a very glamorous life. She married an Arab sheikh, which took her to the Middle East. She had four boutiques, two in the ski areas and two on the beach resorts in Lebanon. One thing led to another and her marriage was dissolving, so after 20 years in the Middle East, she and her seven children moved back to the United States. She chronicles her stories in a book she published in 2024 called, “Gucci to Goodwill” and finds it ironic that she now owns a consignment shop.

“My kids are really proud of what I’m doing. They love that mom’s setting an example that at my age, I’m still working full-time. Doing this keeps you active. It keeps you young and I get to meet everybody in the valley. It’s so fun,” Hynes said.

Hynes loves the interactions of the job and learning about other people’s stories. She also loves helping people find an outfit or accessories that will make them feel great.

“I want to create things that are fun to wear, even if you wear it once a week or once a month,” Hynes said. “What a great day if you’re taking a day off from skiing and instead go shopping with your friends and then one of your best memories of the trip is the fashion find that you discovered here. Just spending an hour shopping and finding some treasure can be a lasting memory.”

Hynes realizes that shopping can be a challenge in the Vail Valley, especially if you get invited to a special event, black-tie occasion or formal wedding.

“I created what I call the black-tie section or a holiday section. Let’s say you forgot that party dress in Texas and now you have an event to go to, so you need a dress really quick. If you’re only going to wear it once, you don’t want to spend a fortune on it, so find something here,” Hynes said.

One fashion category she carries that are brand new is dressy shoes.

“That’s also another niche I wanted to fill because I’ve noticed that if we have an event here, there’s no place to buy a nice pair of dressy shoes. People usually don’t want to buy used shoes that are heavily worn so I bought a lot of new shoes to fill that void,” Hynes said.

Hynes also has a large collection of faux and real fur coats ranging from $100 to $2,000.

“I’m not trying to stock the $10,000 and the $20,000 items, and a $2,000 coat that you could buy here would be $20,000 in any other store. Most of the furs are unbranded, but they’ll come from Canada or they’ll come from a reputable brand like Saga Furs of Finland,” Hynes said. “I’m trying only to stock the high-quality ones. Some people are looking for glamor and high-end items, but they still want a good value and a discount.”

And men, she has fashions for you, too.

“I have to give the men the respect and the floor space, so we have a pretty nice men’s section at LuvLux,” Hynes said. “A lot of times, husband and wife will come in and she’s looking for furs and he’ll say, ‘Hey, I’m going to the Ritz-Carlton on Saturday afternoon for the après party and I need a fur coat for myself.’ So, I started stocking fun things that have an après ski vibe or Yellowstone influences as well as classic men’s fashions.”

LuvLux is hosting an Après All Day event on Saturday with refreshments to welcome everyone to the new store from noon until 6 p.m. Regular store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
