EAGLE — He’s been a practicing veterinarian for more than 30 years and, when he’s not mending the bones of old Fido or Puff the Cat, he’s tickling the funny bones of audiences throughout the west. There’s no one else like him in the entire country, If you’ve never imagined a veterinarian as a stand-comic, now is your chance, as he returns for Comedy Night at the Bowlmor at the The Back Bowl in Eagle Saturday night at 8 pm.

Fitzgerald knew early on that he wanted to be a comedian when he ‘grew up’ and was not dissuaded when his mom told him he couldn’t do both. Along the way he found himself working as a roadie for music legends like The Who, The Police and The Rolling Stones, before landing in veterinary school and going on to an extremely successful and rewarding carrer in medicine.

But Fitzgerald never gave up on the dream and has gone on to become one of the most in-demand comics on Denver’s thriving comdedy circuit. Over the years, he has opened for some of the greatest comic talents of our time including the legendary Bob Hope. He’s worked with many others like Dennis Miller, Lewis Black, and most recently Kevin Nealon, Craig Ferfguson and Denver’s very own Josh Blue.

He really is the nation’s only known veterinarian and stand-up comic and, as luck and twenty-five years on stage would have it, he also happens to be very, very funny. So funny, in fact, that he starred in his own television series on Animal Planet.

Opening the show is Comedy Works regular and former Vail local Jeff Wozer. He has also performed on some of comedy’s biggest stages including: Red Rocks, the Vegas Strip, the Great American Comedy festival both as a headliner as well as an opener for comedy greats like Martin Short and Brian Regan. Wozer’s clean and clever material is drawn from his experiences as a very active outdoorsman – He’s climbed Mt. Everest! – which enables the Colorado audience to relate well to his musings about ‘the mountain lifestyle’.
