Man killed in Gypsum crash Tuesday night

GYPSUM, Colorado “- A man was killed Tuesday night when he lost control of his pickup truck on Cottonwood Pass near Gypsum, Colorado.

According to Colorado State Patrol, the man, who police haven’t identified yet, was speeding in his 2003 Chevrolet truck while heading west on the road and lost control just pass milepost nine. His truck flipped over several times down an embankment and collided with a tree.

“The driver of the vehicle was ejected during the first roll and pronounced dead at the scene,” Sgt. Marshall Schwartz, the state patrol’s public information officer, said.

Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, and the accident is under investigation.
