Even though it’s early February, the summer concert schedule is starting to fill up at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek as well as the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD) is returning to the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater on Friday, Aug. 21 as part of The Amp’s Summer Concert series. Co-Presented by the Vail Valley Foundation and AEG Presents, the show will be held on Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. and tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at grfavail.com.

This will mark their fifth performance at The Amp. The group is known for their high-energy, improvisational takes on Grateful Dead classics and is comprised of Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Dave Dreiwitz, Tom Hamilton and Scott Metzger. The announcement comes in the wake of Bob Weir’s passing, a profound loss for the Grateful Dead community and music fans worldwide, making this summer’s concert all the more meaningful.

“JRAD has become a beloved fixture at The Amp,” said Dave Dressman, vice president of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. “With Bobby’s recent passing, I anticipate JRAD’s summer tour to be an even more powerful celebration of all things Grateful Dead than usual. The fact that they want to come back year after year is a testament to the incredible energy and connection they create with our community every time they play here. Get your tickets early, they won’t last long!”

The Wallflowers at the Vilar Center

The Wallflowers will mark the 30th anniversary of its landmark album “Bringing Down the Horse” with a nationwide U.S. tour. The band will perform the classic album in its entirety, with hits “6th Avenue Heartache,” “One Headlight,” “The Difference” and “Three Marlenas.” The Wallflowers will also pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ by playing Petty’s 1982 album “Long After Dark.”

Alison Krauss & Union Station at The Amp

Alison Krauss & Union Station will perform at The Amp on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The show will feature Dobro master and 15-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas and will also include special guest Theo Lawrence.

Krauss last played The Amp in 2024 as a solo artist co-headlining with Robert Plant. This coming summer, the singer and fiddle player will return to Vail with the bluegrass and country group that she has been performing with since 1989 when she was just a teenager.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Alison Krauss back to our stage, this time with Union Station,” Dressman said. “Alison is a legendary artist with an incredible legacy, and people still rave about her performance with Robert Plant in 2024. We can’t wait to see her return with the acclaimed band she has been making music with for decades.”

Krauss has won 27 Grammy Awards from 46 nominations and is a top Grammy winner of all time. She has been inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. Alongside Union Station, she is sure to deliver an energetic and captivating performance that showcases why the band has been a force in contemporary bluegrass for decades.
