A Vail beginner chairlift that malfunctioned on Sunday and required roped evacuation by Vail Ski Patrol is still not running, with no set time for getting back online.

“Teams are currently working on Little Eagle (Chair 15),” Vail spokesperson Michelle Dallal wrote in an email Wednesday. “There is no estimate for when it will be resolved at this time and guests can check lift status online or on the My Epic App.”

According to an Eagle County Schools email, first grade and kindergarten students in the program, set for Thursday and Friday of this week, were told to go to Golden Peak.

All guests are being directed to Golden Peak for beginner lessons and can be shuttled for free if they are arriving in Vail on the Lionshead side of the mountain.

About 40 guests were rope evacuated from the Little Eagle lift (lowered to the snow below by Vail Ski Patrol) around noon on Sunday. The ski company reported all of the guests were evacuated safely.

“We apologize to our skiers and riders who were inconvenienced by this event and greatly appreciate the efforts of our team members who safely took care of our guests,” Vail Resorts reported on Monday. “We place the highest value on the safety of our guests and will resolve the issue before reopening Little Eagle to the public. Until then, the lift will remain closed.”
