Thomas (Tom) F. McDonough, a longtime resident of Eagle County and a devoted family man, passed away on February 19, 2026, just shy of his 78th birthday. Born on February 26, 1948, Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. In 1976, he moved to Eagle County, where he began his local career in property management and worked for Vail Associates before becoming a small business owner as the proprietor of Third St. Painting. He later shared his expertise with many at the Paint Bucket until his retirement in August of 2025. Tom was an avid hunter, a loyal Colorado Avalanche fan, and was always ready to help friends when they needed a hand with a project. Above all, Tom was dedicated to his family. He and his wife of 45 years, Marian, raised four children together, instilling in them the values of kindness and hard work.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; his children, Michael, Nicole, Brian (Meranda Wyatt), and Lainey (Jeff Hecht); his sister, Kathi Doroff (Gary); and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on May 24th at 3:00 pm at the Double O Ranch, 1001 Bruce Creek Road, Eagle, CO. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories and honor a life well-lived.
