Vail Daily obituary: Brian Charles Olmsted, 1964-2015

Brian Charles Olmsted, 51, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Edwards, passed away Oct. 30.

Born Jan. 29, 1964, in Ankara, Turkey, Brian lived in and traveled to many countries during his childhood. After graduating with honors from Smokey Hill High School in Aurora, Brian continued his education in aerospace engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. While attending CU, Brian enjoyed playing intercollegiate rugby and soccer.

Eventually, Brian followed his parents to Vail, where they shared their lifelong passion for skiing. Over the years, the family made many happy memories on Beaver Creek Mountain!

Though his field of study was aerospace engineering, Brian’s heart led him to the culinary arts profession, where he worked as a sous chef. Beano’s Cabin, Vista Restaurant, Montauk Seafood Grill and The Four Seasons are among the places where Brian worked his culinary magic during his years in the Vail Valley.

Brian is survived by his mother, Susan Olmsted, of Arrowhead; sister, Stephanie Flannigan, of Honolulu; and nephew, Justin Olmsted, of Edwards. Preceding him in death was his father, Wm. Stephen Olmsted.

Known for his creative, kind and caring nature, Brian will be forever missed by his family and friends. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Eagle Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 4105, Eagle, CO 81631.
