Oktoberfest Fun Run set for Sunday in Vail

VAIL, Colorado – Gather the kids, stretch the legs and enjoy a morning of friendly competition at the annual Oktoberfest Fun Run held Sunday in Vail Village. Benefiting the Children’s Garden of Learning, the Fun Run is a sociable event for all ages.”The Fun Run opens the final day of Vail Oktoberfest’s two-weekend festival,” said Natalie Fandrey of Highline Sports & Entertainment. “A benefit for the Children’s Garden of Learning, a preschool here in Vail, the event provides children, parents and singles a chance to celebrate Oktoberfest together for a worthy cause.”The Fun Run will start promptly at 9 a.m. at Checkpoint Charlie on Gore Creek Drive in Vail Village. The course will cover a similar route to years past, heading east out of Vail Village and over towards the Vail Golf Course. Runners and walkers will then make their way back to Vail Village for a finish at Checkpoint Charlie.Event categories include a competitive 10K, a 5K run/walk and a Kids’ 1K in which strollers are welcome. Pre-registration is $20 for adults and $10 for kids and is now open at http://www.vailoktoberfest.com. Onsite registration will also be available from 8-8:45a.m. and costs $25 for adults and $10 for kids. All participating children will receive a complimentary T-shirt, designed by 4-year-old Maeve Courtney, as well as a kids’ goody-bag. The first 200 adult participants to arrive onsite on race day will receive complimentary T-shirts. “We are thrilled that Highline Sports is again sponsoring the Children’s Garden for the Oktoberfest Fun Run,” said Children’s Garden of Learning Director DeeDee Hense. “It’s a terrific and fun event for our amazing school.” In addition to the races, a silent auction will be held. And, participants 21-years-old and over may visit the Bloody Mary bar. It’s all part of Vail Oktoberfest, Vail’s annual celebration of autumn held in Vail Village.
