Phantom of the Opera lands in Denver

DENVER – A touring production of Broadway’s longest-running musical comes to Denver’s Buell Theatre Nov. 2-Dec. 4. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” will be led by Gary Mauer as The Phantom and Marie Danvers as Christine. Raol will be played by John Cudia. The musical is directed by Harold Prince.

Mauer most recently starred in the Broadway production of “The Phantom of the Opera,” playing the leading role of Raoul. Danvers has appeared with the Los Angeles and Broadway companies of “Phantom,” and Cudia comes to directly from the Broadway company of the show.With worldwide box office sales of over $3 billion, “The Phantom of the Opera” is the most successful entertainment venture of the 20th century, surpassing such films as “Titanic,” and “Star Wars.” Winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, “Phantom” celebrated its 17th anniversary on Broadway January 26, 2005, and is the longest-running show currently on Broadway, having played over 7,000 performances.

On January 9, 2006 the musical will become the longest-running show in Broadway history, surpassing the Cats record of 7,485 performances. Tickets range from $15-$70 and can be purchased by calling 800-641-1222 on online at denvercenter.org.
