This spa is for: Busy professionals who are looking to get in and get out or anyone looking for a quieter, low-key option than the resort spas offer.
First impressions: This spa is located inside Dogma Athletica, which Connolly owns with her husband, Rod. Though Connolly performs the treatments in a room near the front desk, it’s a quiet and tranquil space.
Though Connolly does have a spa menu, each treatment she does is customized for the customer based on their specific concerns, be it acne, sun damage, clogged pores or something else.
“I ask what people’s goals are,” Connolly said. “I also ask about nutrition, exercise, supplements, hormones, skin care routine. I try to look at what’s going on with the whole person, inside and out. I think it all goes together. Our skin is our largest organ and where we live is rough on our skin.”
During every treatment Connolly uses steam on your face, does extractions and uses a Clarisonic brush for a deeper exfoliation using ultrasonic waves. While the mask was on my face, she massaged my neck and shoulders. She finished our hour together with a Oxian European Oxygen Treatment.
“It’s so beneficial to your skin,” Connolly said. “I add that at the end of every treatment. Lots of spas charge extra for that but I don’t.”
The treatment was: Equal parts effective and relaxing. My skin has been brighter and clear since I had it done this week.
Make the most of your visit: Connolly has been doing skincare for seven years and as such, is extremely knowledgeable about not only skin, but health and nutrition in general. Take the time to pick her brain while you’re there as she’s more than happy to recommend a “fitness routine” for your face.
“Through corrective facials, a good home care regime, supplements, proper nutrition and exercise, the aging process can be slowed down,” Connolly wrote as part of the spa’s mission, printed on the spa menu.
Know before you go: Connolly also offers waxing, red and blue light therapies and eyebrow and eyelash tinting.
