Tasting Sunday will feature Grand Junction winery
VAIL, Colorado – Family-operated Two Rivers Winery will showcase some of its most popular selections from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Marketplace on Meadow Drive Wine Shop.
Nestled between the gateways to the Colorado National Monument, you will find this new Grand Junction winery. Two Rivers Winery and the accompanying Chateau were built from the ground up on 15 acres in 1999. They offer wines of the noble varieties, which can be tasted and purchased in its tasting room. The award-winning wines are produced by winery owners Bob and Billie Witham and winemaker Tyrel Lawson.
“The tasting this week will feature the Two Rivers’ Riesling, Merlot and Chardonnay,” said Court Fable, owner/operator of the Wine Shop at Marketplace on Meadow Drive. “With this wide variety of flavors, you are sure to find a new favorite this weekend.”
The Two Rivers Riesling is a wine that braids ripe fruits, blossoms and nectar with crisp, verdant acid. The brightness keeps the wine from being overly sweet and the opulent texture is balanced by the grapes’ natural acidity. The Merlot features subtle aromas of orange sherbet; violet and smoke complement a fruit forward, medium body highlighted by toffee, spice and lively acidity. Flavors of cherry and slate give way to a long finish with rich, silky tannins. Finally, the Chardonnay is filled with fragrant aromas of roasted hazelnut, vanilla and smoke – these give way to a creamy tropical character. Clean and citrus driven on the finish, this Chardonnay will please a wide-range of palates.
The tasting event is free and reservations are not required. Parking is located at the Vail Transportation Center, where the parking is free. Marketplace on Meadow Drive is located in Vail Village, at the corner of Meadow Drive and Willow Bridge Road, just west of the International Bridge. From the Transportation Center, head west on Meadow Drive. For more information, call 970-477-4370.
