Twenty-car crash closes I-70

GLENWOOD CANYON, Colorado – Six people were injured when 20 vehicles were in an accident in Glenwood Canyon, Colorado, on Saturday afternoon, according to a statement from the Colorado State Patrol.

A state trooper was investigating two separate crashes involving six cars in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the Bair Ranch Rest Area when the 20-car crash, which included three semi trucks, occurred behind him at about 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, the statement said. Six people were transported to Valley View Hospital with injuries, including a female passenger who had left her vehicle after the initial collision and was struck by another vehicle, suffering a broken pelvis, according to the statement. The other victims were treated and released with minor injuries, and the crash was being investigated Saturday night, the statement said.

Eastbound I-70 was closed for four hours, and one lane of westbound I-70 was closed near the crash scene for approximately one hour, according to the statement.
