Vail chairlift accident sends 2 to hospital
Two men fell from a Vail Mountain chairlift on Monday, according to the resort.
Michelle Dallal, a communications manager for Vail and Beaver Creek, wrote in an email that a 59-year-old male from Sherman Oaks, California, and a 21-year-old male from Rancho Palo Verdes, California, fell from the Mountaintop Express Lift (No. 4). Both were transported to Vail Health Hospital.
Monday’s fall is the second chairlift accident this season in Colorado, after a snowboarder suffered injuries after falling from the Montezuma Express chairlift at Keystone Resort on Thursday, Nov. 13.
There were 18 chairlift falls reported to the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board in the 2024-25 ski season, a high point for the state’s resort industry, according to reporting from The Colorado Sun.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
