Vail Daily grabs multiple awards
DENVER ” The Vail Daily was recognized recently with 26 awards from three different newspaper associations.
At the Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters Association awards dinner Friday, the Vail Daily received six awards, including a first place for managing editor Don Rogers in the news column category.
Saturday night at the Colorado Press Association awards banquet, the Daily received 19 awards, including five first-place mentions for layout, sports writing, editorial writing and photography.
Also, the Inland Press Association, which represents over 800 papers in the U.S. and Canada, awarded Vail Daily photographer Shane Macomber a third place mention for sports photography.
“It’s one of the best years we’ve ever had,” said Vail Daily Publisher Steve Pope. “I’m really proud of them, mostly because they reflect the efforts we try to make for the community every day.”

Among Colorado Press Association members, the Vail Daily competes in the “Class 5” category, which includes daily newspapers with circulations between 10,000 and 100,000.
