Vail Mountain announced on Aug. 18 that the first day that snow enthusiasts can get on the lifts and down the slopes is tentatively planned for Friday, Nov. 13, marking it on the early side of the timeline of Opening Days for this year’s season.

“It may only be August, but we’re laser focused on preparing our resorts to deliver the best and most differentiated guest experience in skiing and riding,” said Bill Rock, president of Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division.

The announcement comes as other Vail Resorts-owned mountains announce their Opening Days for the season. Keystone is reported to open as early as October, with Breckenridge coming in right behind it on Nov. 6. Beaver Creek and Crested Butte are opening Nov. 25.

“While no one can predict exactly what Mother Nature will deliver, the possibility of blockbuster snowfall has us feeling optimistic about the winter ahead,” Rock said. “And while we’d love to see Super El Niño live up to the hype, we’re also taking an aggressive approach to snowmaking to ensure this ski season is one to remember.”
