Skier dies after incident in Vail’s Blue Sky Basin

Vail Mountain officials late Tuesday confirmed the death of a 43-year-old man from Chile after an accident in the Big Rock Park area of Vail’s Blue Sky Basin on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Vail Ski Patrol responded to a skier incident in Big Rock Park, Vail Resorts officials confirmed Tuesday, stating the skier was then transported to Vail Health hospital in Vail and then flown to Denver Health Hospital.
After further emergency care and evaluation, the man was pronounced deceased at Denver Health Hospital, resort officials said.
“Vail Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” Beth Howard, vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain, said in a press statement.
