Vail Youth Ballet Company’s talented young dancers are set to perform their annual Spring Showcase April 4 at Vail Mountain School at 4 p.m. This dynamic performance features 23 dancers ranging in ages from 7th to 12th grade from Vail Valley Academy of Dance.
The energetic, innovative student showcase encompasses all disciplines of dance; from a graceful ballet set to “Concerto – 3rd Movement,” a powerful contemporary piece to Fleetwood Mac’s “Never Break the Chain,” and an upbeat jazz number choreographed to “Jailhouse Rock.” Several pieces are choreographed by the company’s dancers themselves, providing the opportunity to develop choreography skills and express their individual personalities through their pieces. Also highlighted are pieces choreographed by Vail Valley Academy of Dance teachers Ashley Calligan, Morgan Kulas, Collen Schlosser and guest choreographer Sarah Tallman, ballet master and associate choreographer from Denver’s premiere modern dance company Wonderbound.
“I look forward to the spring showcase highlighting each choreographers’ personalities in the dances they set on their peers; challenging the comfort zone of the dancers and the young student choreographers,” said Ashley Calligan, artistic director for Vail Valley Academy of Dance.
This family-friendly performance is produced by Vail Friends of Dance. Tickets are $15 at the door.
