VAIL ” Here’s an update of major construction projects in Vail:
Vail Front Door
Concrete work continues for the garage, and steel is being placed for the Lodge at Vail addition and the spa, said Todd Goulding of Vail Resorts Development Company. The bathrooms and the lower patrol room are being demolished to make way for the skier services building. The Vista Bahn ski yard is being excavated and graded.
Vail Resorts’ Front Door includes 13 town homes, a skier services building, a private club, a loading dock, an underground garage, a spa and an addition to the Lodge at Vail. The project is located at the base of Vail Mountain in Vail Village. The skier services building and the garage are supposed to be completed by next ski season.
The spa and the Lodge addition are supposed to be complete by Christmas 2007. The private club and the townhomes are supposed to be completed in 2008.

Gore Creek Place
All 16 units have been sold and have been turned over to the owners, Goulding said. Workers are finishing up some landscaping. All work is supposed to be completed by June 28.
Vail Resorts’ Gore Creek Place has 16 townhomes on the Gore Creek south of the Vail Marriott.
Ritz-Carlton Residences
Workers are expected to begin demolishing the Vail Marriott parking structure in June, Goulding said. Excavation and shoring will also begin then. Excavation is supposed to last 100-110 days.
Vail Resorts’ Ritz-Carlton Residences are in Lionshead at the corner of the South Frontage Road and West Forest Road, next to the Vail Marriott. Completion is expected in the winter of 2009-10. It will have 71 condos.
Arrabelle at Vail Square
Exterior work has begun on all four buildings, Goulding said. Streetscape work has begun, as well. Workers are doing interior finishes in two of the buildings
Most of the scaffolding will be removed by October.
The Arrabelle will have 66 condos ” all have been sold ” 36 hotel rooms, a spa, meeting rooms, a restaurant, mountain operations space, stores, parking and a loading dock. It is in the center of Lionshead on the site of the old gondola building.
Streetscape projects
The town of Vail is starting to install paver stones on East Meadow Drive in front of the Austria Haus, said Scott Bluhm of the town of Vail. Over the last few weeks, it installed snow-melt equipment there.
On the International Bridge, the town is almost ready to lay down asphalt after installing snowmelt equipment. Street paver stones will be installed later.
Streetscape work will shut down for the Teva Mountain Games this weekend. The work will be suspended from June 22 until Labor Day.
Vail Plaza Hotel and Club
Officials hope the complex will get a certificate of occupancy in late June, and hope to open the complex shortly thereafter, said General Manager Connie Dorsey. Workers are finishing up interior finishes, installing furniture and building sidewalks and the median in the South Frontage Road, Dorsey said.
The project is between the South Frontage Road and East Meadow Drive in Vail Village. It includes 100 hotel rooms, 38 fractional fee units, two restaurants, a bar and a spa.
Solaris
Demolition of the Crossroads building has begun and will last for another four to six weeks, said Craig Cohn, director of sales and leasing for Solaris. The project is still on schedule for completion in 2009, Cohn said.
Solaris will have 75 condos, a three-screen movie theater, a 10-lane bowling alley, stores, restaurants and an ice rink/public plaza. It was approved by Vail voters in July 2006.
Four Seasons
Doug Hipskind of Black Diamond Resorts-Vail LLC, the developer, said workers continue to excavate and shore the site. They are also removing groundwater at the site, he said.
The Four Seasons will have 120 hotel rooms, 16 condos and 19 timeshares. The site is just southwest of the main Vail roundabout. It is supposed to be completed in September of 2009.
Vail Mountainview Residences
Concrete work has begun, according to a town of Vail update. Developer Ron Byrne could not be reached for comment.
The Vail Mountainview Residences on Gore Creek is being built on the site of Apollo Park near Ford Park. The project will have 24 condos. It’s supposed to be done in 2008.
Manor Vail
Workers are starting to replace the windows of the existing units, and work is starting on the underground parking, said Chuck Madison, senior partner at East West Partners, the developer.
The project will redo the exterior of the buildings and add 17 new condos. It will also add underground parking and a new swimming pool.
The targeted completion date is summer of 2008, he said.
Nine Vail Road
Workers are now doing demolition and asbestos abatement at Nine Vail Road, said Howard Bridgland of Nedbo Construction.
The project includes an exterior facelift, a new swimming pool, landscaping, new hallway decor, a new sprinkler system and a new alarm system, Bridgland said.
The work should be done by November, he said. Nine Vail Road is on Vail Road near the Four Seasons site.
Willows
The Willows is being torn down and rebuilt. Demolition will begin this week, said Tye Stockton of Ron Byrne and Associates. The new building will have nine fractional units and nine condos. It’s supposed to be completed in the fall of 2008. The Willows is west of Checkpoint Charlie in Vail Village.
Lift House
Workers are installing new balconies at the Lift House, according to a town of Vail update. A representative from Viele Construction could not be reached.
Landmark
Workers are redoing the store space at the Landmark, which includes Vail Sports, Ski Base and Billy’s Island Grill.
Demolition and excavation is almost completed, the foundation work will begin next week, said Mark Hallenbeck of Highland Builders Corp.
The work is supposed to be completed by the upcoming ski season, he said.
One Willow Bridge Road
According to a town of Vail update, kitchen trim is being installed in the Marketplace. Fractional-fee units and the garage have received conditional occupancy certificates, the update said.
A representative from the Weitz Company could not be reached.
One Willow Bridge Road will have 10 condos and 12 fractional-fee units. A marketplace on the first floor is supposed to have a cafeteria, a grocery store, a wine bar and a liquor store. One Willow Bridge Road is at the International Bridge and East Meadow Drive in Vail Village.
