“He just bounces from one genre to another, in fact, he’s currently on tour with the Miles Electric Band, honoring the legendary trumpeter Miles Davis’ 100th birthday, but he has a big history of playing with the bluegrass guys, with Green Sky Bluegrass and String Cheese and all of them,” said Diane Moudy of Resort Entertainment, the organizer of the FreeFall Bluegrass event. “So, he literally made some phone calls and has gathered quite a group of talented folks to play at Agave on Thursday.

“I just love everything Molly Tuttle does. She is a Grammy Award-winning guitarist, Billy Strings taught her how to play guitar, she just married Katch Secor from Old Crowe Medicine Show and she’s just a great human being. And then I’ve worked with Railroad Earth a ton of times. They’re just great and are celebrating the band’s 25th anniversary. Lots of good friendships going on there,” Moudy said.

Joining Tuttle and Railroad Earth is Bluegrass Generals, which is a blend of players from Infamous String Dusters with Paul Hoffman from Green Sky Bluegrass and Bill Nershi from String Cheese Incident.

“We’re also really excited to bring out Ross James Electric Deadgrass which is Nicki Bluhm, and we just love her and she’s with Garrett Sayers, who’s from the Motet, and Alex Koford, Bill McKay and then they add Paul Hoffman and Bill Nershi in as special guests. The one thing that’s beautiful about the bluegrass world is all the great collaborations going on and they all love playing with each other,” Moudy said.

There are over a dozen bands that will be playing throughout the three-day festival, but if you want to win tickets to the event or buy tickets without fees, come to the pre-party.
