Letter: City Market coupons and seniors

I know our world is very focused on being digital, but when City Market puts something on sale and there is both an in-store sale price as well as a digital coupon price (which is an additional discount), you are hurting people who could probably benefit most from those additional savings: Our seniors. Many seniors don’t have cell phones/smartphones or know how to use apps, or even use computers. These devices can be difficult and confusing for younger seniors as well who didn’t grow up in the digital world.

If City Market chooses to put an item on sale, it should be for sale at that price for all, not just those who can and do use your app or a computer for digital coupons.

Shame on City Market. This practice is unnecessary and hurtful.

As a soon-to-be senior myself and an active caregiver to my 93-year-old mother, I have become hyper-aware of how unfriendly so many products, systems and procedures are to our seniors. Let’s do better.
