Letter: There should be a train from Glenwood Springs to Vail
Have you ever thought that it would be easier to get from Glenwood Springs to Vail by train? Right now in Eagle County, there is a lot of traffic. Lots of people have gotten stuck in traffic on Interstate 70, causing accidents and delaying events.
I think there should be a train running from Glenwood Springs to Vail. According to High Speed Rail Alliance, “A high-speed train would be three times faster than driving — 2.5 hours vs. 7.5 hours. Sure, you could fly, but once you factor in traveling to the airport, going through security, and sitting on a taxiway, the high-speed train is still faster.”
This is evidence that it is much faster to take a train instead of a car. According to MetroMagazine.com, “Study finds that three-quarters (75%) of people would choose a better-connected public transport system, rather than driving.” This states that more people who can drive would prefer to take a train.
According to DCBlaw.com, “You can trace all motor vehicle accidents back to one root cause: Human error. The vast majority of crashes, over 90%, just happen because people make mistakes.” One of those mistakes is too many drivers on the road. Less people would be on if there was a train as an option.
Some people might think that building a train is a waste of money and resources.

But if one is not built, then the traffic problem will keep happening for who knows how long. In conclusion, a train running from Glenwood Springs to Vail would solve a lot of problems.
