Australian comedian Amos Gill, who is a regular at The Comedy Cellar in New York City and has sold out theaters across Europe, is headlining a show in Vail Village on Wednesday. Mitch Jones and Jeff Nelson, comedians from the Denver area, will also perform. The Vail Comedy Show will be in Sarah’s Lounge at The Christiania Lodge at Vail Village and will be hosted by the organizer of Vail Comedy, comedian Mark Masters.

“Every time we have run a show this ski season it has snowed, which is remarkable, we hope to continue that streak,” Masters said.

When asked about visiting the Vail area, Gill said, “I was booked to do a corporate gig for an American Steel company in Denver in 2022. The gig went really well, so the CEO asked if I wanted to come up to a ski house they had rented in Vail. That sounded better than my planned evening in a La Quinta Inn so I went along. In July of this year, I will be marrying that CEO’s daughter. I try to come to Vail and Beaver Creek every winter and it is undoubtedly my favorite part of the United States.”

Amos Gill skis with his fiance at Beaver Creek Resort. Gill met her after performing a comedy show for her father and was invited on a trip up to Beaver Creek and the rest is history. The pair will marry this summer.

Masters tours the country all year looking for talent and first saw Gill at a comedy festival in New Orleans last year. Gill is no stranger to traveling for stand-up comedy.

“A few months ago I found myself in Sofia, Bulgaria on the day the government was overthrown. There were angry mobs in the street, meanwhile, I was in the state theater complaining about Bulgarian airports. Two hours later I came outside to a toppled regime and have never felt so influential,” Gill said.

“This year I became a regular at the Comedy Cellar in New York City, which had been an aspiration of mine since I started in the small Australian city of Adelaide. For the last five years I have had the privilege of touring with Jim Jefferies all over the world. He has enabled me to perform at Madison Square Garden, the 02 Arena and theaters all over America and the world,” Gill said.

Vail Comedy Show has programming all ski season. Raanan Hershberg from “The Tonight Show” will be at Manor Vail on Friday, Mar. 13. Ray Harrington from “CONAN” will be in Avon and Vail Mar. 18 and 19. Carmen Lynch and Eddie Ifft will close out ski season with a pair of shows in early April.

Gill has traveled the world but loves to perform comedy and blend in a little skiing when he can.

The Vail Comedy Festival will return Memorial Day weekend, May 22-24, for three days of laughs with dozens of comedians and a film component will return for a second year. FILM@Vail Comedy Festival will highlight cinema in the comedy and mental health spaces and include movies that have won awards at prestigious events such as Sundance. More information about Vail Comedy Show and no-fee tickets to all shows are available at vailcomedyshow.com.

When asked what he was looking forward to about his next visit to Vail, Gill said, “A powder day, with blue skies and 15 beers at Pepi’s.”
