Avon police release video seeking information on fatal hit-and-run incident

Last week, Avon Police Department released a video on its Facebook page sharing the emergency call that came in on Tuesday, March 5 at 6:50 p.m., detailing the scene of what would later be determined as a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 76-year-old John “Jack” Ladesic of Pennsylvania.

“We are appealing to our community for any information that you may know about this event, or if you have any information about the person who was driving that vehicle that night,” Avon police chief Greg Daly said in the video.

“Ladesic was walking westbound on Highway 6 at approximately 6:45 p.m. He was struck by a vehicle, and killed, and the vehicle left the scene. We know this to be a white, smaller vehicle, reported by a witness,” Detective Sergeant Bal Herrera added. “We are seeking justice for Jack.”

It is believed that Ladesic was walking on the shoulder of the road between the EagleVail Shop and Hop Gas Station and the River Oaks Apartment Complex when he was struck. Anyone who was driving in the area at that time and has vehicle dashcam footage or any information is encouraged to contact the Avon Police Department at 970-479-2201.
